Canes Connection

Directly supporting University of Miami student-athletes

Canes Connection is an innovative organization facilitating name, image, and likeness (NIL) opportunities for various Hurricane student-athletes by collaborating with supporters of the school.

NIL allows college athletes to financially profit from their name, image, and likeness. The Supreme Court instituted the law in July 2021 after overriding existing NCAA sanctions. Prior to the ruling, the NCAA’s stance had been that amateur athletes and players cannot make money off activities such as jersey sales, autographs, and endorsements.

“It’s an interesting space that is quickly evolving. Regardless of where you stand on NIL, the Supreme Court’s ruling has undoubtedly revolutionized college athletics for the time being,” said Kevin Zinniel, co-founder and president at AVL. “AVL is happy to be in the middle of an evolving marketplace for athletes.”
